It’s great to take the family out for a good time on the open water. Quality time with the family can be found right here while casting off and heading out for adventure. There are several places that offer a charter and the Virginia Beach and Tidewater area are known for its plentiful fish and numerous fishing options.

You may go out into the Chesapeake Bay for a fun-filled day of fishing. You may also decide to head offshore and get in some Atlantic deep sea fishing. This is the reason why the Tidewater area is so popular when it comes to fishing. The multiple destinations and the limitless areas to catch fish create a fantastic event for anglers. Striper aka Rockfish, Sea bass,Trout, and Flounder are among some of the most popular fish choices.

When you are booking your charter boat in Virginia Beach, you will have to take a few small details into consideration. By taking the time to plan the trip in advance, then you offer yourself and your family the chance to get the most out of the experience. The charter boat fishing service wants to be sure that you and your crew are having the time of your life. Be sure to bring along certain amenities and refreshments for your fishing trip. Food and drink are normally your responsibility. Sticking with simple foods like sandwiches and snacks is highly recommended.

The time of year that you head out on the charter boat fishing in Virginia Beach will have an impact on where the best fishing is and what species of fish is the most likely catch of the day. The charter boat fishing service can often clue you into the details so that you will be well prepared and know what you’re fishing for. The captain, and usually a first mate, will be on hand to help you get the most out of your fishing experience, answer your questions, and help with gear if necessary. Some of the larger charter boats in Virginia Beach will have numerous deck hands available to help and make the charter fishing trip more enjoyable.

Also remember that the weather on the water is not the same as that which is on land.

It is essential that you and your family members have ample layers of clothing to prevent getting too cold, especially during the early and later seasons. It’s not unusual to have a 60 or 70 degree day in December only to have the temperature drop ten degrees or more and then add in a wind chill. Life jackets are provided however, if you have someone in your party that might need special gear, either due to disability or small or large size, it’s best to inform the charter boat fishing service during the booking process. Sometimes, the strength of the Virginia Beach sun can be very intense, and it is definitely recommended that you bring a good sun protection as well as sun glasses.

You may also run into some unpleasant weather the day of your trip. If the captain chooses to keep the charter in port for the day, you need to respect that it is a decision made out of safety concerns. Call the night before to check and be sure your fishing trip is on schedule.

Remember to follow all safety concerns. The Virginia Beach fishing charter will outline the basic rules and safety tips. It is ultimately your responsibility to make sure that your children follow the safety regulations. It’s important that everyone work together to keep the trip safe and fun for those family vacation memories.
